The U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy reported on February 13, 2019 that the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DOE) announced on February 13 a notice of proposed rulemaking to clarify the process rule that applies to the establishment of new or revised energy conservation standards for consumer products and commercial/industrial equipment. The rule would make these procedures binding on DOE, as well as expanding opportunities for public input on rulemaking activities. DOE will be holding a public hearing on the proposed rule on March 21, 2019. Written comments are due by April 15, 2019.
